Montana State Flower: Bitterroot
Montana adopted the Bitterroot as the state flower on February 27, 1895.

In 1905, the Ninth Legislative Assembly adopted Colonel Kessler's flag as the official state flag. Changes have been made since the original adoption.The current flag was approved in 1985.

Montana State Bird: Western Meadowlark
Montana Legislature adopted the western meadow lark as the official state bird on March 14, 1931.

Montana adopted the state seal in 1865 when Montana was still a territory. In 1889 when it became a state, it was decided to use the same seal.

Approved in 1977, the Blackspotted Cutthroat Trout is the official state fish of Montana.

Montana State Quarter
Released on January 29, 2007, the Montana quarter features a bison skull depicted above the diverse Montana landscape with the inscription "Big Sky Country." The coin also bears the inscriptions "Montana" and "1889."
