New Hampshire State Flag
New Hampshire State Legislature adopted the state flag in 1909. The flag has only been changed once since the original in 1909. The change, in 1931, was not actually to the flag but rather to the State Seal centered on the flag.

New Hampshire State Bird: Purple Finch
The New Hampshire General Assembly approved the bill to adopt the Purple Finch as the official state bird. It was signed by Governor Lane Dwinell on April 25, 1957.

New Hampshire State Seal
The New Hampshire seal was originally adopted in 1775. In 1784 legislature decided to change the seal to keep up the the changing times. The 1784 design became a victim of artists' whims and fancies. The scene continually changed. In 1931, the legislature voted to regain control of the seal's design. Today the seal is unchanging.
