Texas State Flower: Bluebonnet
The Bluebonnet was adopted as the official state flower of Texas by the Texas Legislature in 1901.

Texas State Flag
The Lone Star Flag was adopted on January 24, 1839 as the national flag of the Republic of Texas. It was first proposed in legislation introduced in the Third Congress of the Republic by William Wharton. The designer of the flag is unknown. The flag was later adopted as the state flag when Texas became the 28th state in 1845.

Texas State Bird: Mockingbird
Texas adopted the Mockingbird as the official state bird in 1927.

Texas State Seal
The original state seal was approved by Sam Houston on December 10, 1836. The Third Congress of the Republic of Texas modified the seal adding the live oak and olive branches in 1839. An official implementation of the seal was adopted by the Secretary of State in 1992.

Texas State Fish: Guadelupe Bass
Adopted in 1989, the Guadelupe Bass is the state fish of Texas.

Texas State Quarter
Released on June 1, 2004, the Texas quarter incorporates an outline of the State with a star superimposed on the outline and the inscription, "The Lone Star State." The lariat encircling the design is symbolic of the cattle and cowboy history of Texas, as well as the frontier spirit that tamed the land.
